Your Christmas table, card by card.

Type one name a line or paste the column from your list, then pick a design and an ink. Each name prints on both sides of its card, the design beside it.

Worked example

One name, eight designs.

The front of a 5302 tent card, drawn as the PDF prints it. The design sits beside the name on both sides of the card, and the name takes the ink too.

  • The name prints large and bold, centered, and gets smaller only when it's long.
  • In the full editor, the design alone can take the ink, the name staying black.
  • 5302 tent cards are taller, so a short name prints larger; 5011 is a little wider, and a long name keeps more of its size there.

From names to a set table in four steps.

  1. Write the names

First names for family, full names for a bigger party: one a line, the way they're said at the table.

  2. Pick a design and an ink

Holly, a star, a candle and five more, in black, cranberry, evergreen, navy or gold. See them on a card.

  3. Choose the card

5302 tent cards are taller, so a short name prints larger; 5011 place cards are a little wider for long names and fit six to a sheet. Print at 100% (Actual size).

  4. Fold and set the table

Fold each card along its score with the print outside, and stand one above each plate. The cards tear apart along the perforations.

Cards for the Christmas table

Sizes from Avery's own template files. Both fold across the middle, so the name and its design read from either side.

  • Text only: names and short lines in Helvetica, Times or Courier, with a line-art design if you like. Photos, logos and script lettering can't be added.
  • The top half prints upside down on purpose: fold along the scored line with the print outside, and both sides read upright. Nothing prints within 0.15 in of the fold.
  • Gold or embossed borders: keep your lines inside the border, and print one sheet on plain paper to hold over a card sheet first.
  • Nothing is uploaded: your list is read in your browser and the PDF is made there.

Count the chairs

How many sheets your table takes.

Four tent cards to a sheet of 5302, six place cards to a sheet of 5011. A pack of 5302 holds 160 cards and a pack of 5011 150, so one pack sets many tables.

  • Spare cards on the last sheet? Keep the sheet: set Start at card to the first one left, and the next PDF prints from there.
  • A late guest? Paste the one name and start at the next free card.

Three things that keep 5302 cards straight.

Print at actual size

"Fit to page" can resize the sheet, and then the lower rows drift off their cards. The PDF opens at 100%; keep it there.

Feed the right side up

Printers differ: some print on the side facing up in the tray, others on the side facing down. Mark an X on a plain sheet, print once and look before you load the card sheets.

Test on plain paper

Hold a plain-paper print over a 5302 sheet against a window. If it sits off, calibrate once and save the correction for that printer.

Questions people ask

Can I print Christmas place cards with names for free?

Yes: this page makes the PDF with no account, no watermark and no charge. You need the card sheets, Avery® 5302 or 5011 or a number with the same layout, and a printer.

Which design suits a Christmas table?

Any of the eight, beside each name: a snowflake, an evergreen, holly, an ornament, a star, a gift, a wreath or a candle. Holly in cranberry or an evergreen in evergreen ink are the classics; a star or a candle in gold suit a candlelit table. All eight on a card.

Can I add a photo or our family name in script?

No: the cards print text in Helvetica, Times or Courier, with a line-art design if you pick one. A photo, a logo or script lettering can't be added.

Do the cards print on both sides?

They print on one side of the sheet, and the fold makes two: the name below the fold reads from your side of the table, the one above it, printed upside down, from the other.

Can I make cards for the buffet or the kids' table?

Yes: any text works, one card a line. Type “Kids' table” or a dish, pick 5302 for bigger cards, and they print the same way, on both sides.

Do I need the Christmas card list?

No, a few names typed one a line are enough. If you keep a card list, its names paste in as they are.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The names stay in your browser, which makes the PDF itself: nothing is sent, stored or put in the page address.

Twenty guests and a seating chart?

Open the list in the editor: a card per row, a table number on each, the back blank if you like, and any guest left out with a click.
