From Google Sheets to labels in three steps.

  1. Select the list

In Google Sheets, select the cells of your list, header row included: the names in the first row tell the box which column is which.

  2. Copy it and paste it here

Copy with Ctrl+C (⌘C on a Mac), click the box above and paste with Ctrl+V (⌘V). The sheet beside it shows every label as it prints.

  3. Choose the sheet, print at 100%

Pick the number printed on your label box, download the PDF and print it at its actual size.

Pick the number on your label box

Sizes from Avery's own template files. The numbers in a row share one layout, so one PDF fits them all.

Pick the number on your label box: size, labels per sheet and the numbers that share each layout
SheetLabel sizePer sheetSame layoutGood for
Avery® 5160 1 × 2-5/8 in 30 8160 · 9160 · 18160 +56 Most lists: a name, a street and a city line at 10 pt.For an inkjet printer, the same sheet is 8160.
Avery® 5161 1 × 4 in 20 8161 · 5261 · 5909 +19 Long names, such as two names joined by “&”: the labels are 4 in wide.
Avery® 5162 1-1/3 × 4 in 14 8162 · 5262 · 5522 +8 Four lines at 12 pt: room for a unit line or a country.
  • A list from a Google Form? Copy it as it is: Timestamp and the e-mail column stay off the labels.
  • Half a sheet left? Set Start at label in the box above to the first free label.

Two ways in

Copy the cells, or download the file.

Both give the box the same rows. Copying is quicker; a downloaded file keeps a copy of the list on your computer.

Copy the cells

  1. Select the list in Sheets, header row included.
  2. Copy it: Ctrl+C, or ⌘C on a Mac.
  3. Click the box above and paste: Ctrl+V, or ⌘V.

The cells arrive with a tab between them, so each of the 8 columns stays a column, and the header row tells the box which is which.

Download the file

  1. At the top, click File > Download.
  2. Choose the Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file type (Google's steps).
  3. Open the file in the box above.

In an .xlsx file, the box reads the first sheet with a header row. Google lists the formats a spreadsheet downloads as: Excel, PDF, CSV, ODS and others (Google's note).

No add-on

Nothing to install, nothing to allow.

No add-on to install and no permission to grant on your Google account: you copy the cells yourself, and the page sees only those.

  • Nothing to install

No add-on, no extension: the page works in the browser you have open.

  • No access to your account

The page never opens your spreadsheet or your Drive. It sees only the cells you paste or the file you open.

  • Nothing uploaded

The list is read in your browser and the PDF is made there too. Nothing is stored, and the list never goes in the page address.

  • Free, with no watermark

No account and no trial: the whole list prints free, with no mark on the labels.

Chromebooks and Google Docs

On a Chromebook, or from a Google Doc.

Everything happens in Chrome, so a Chromebook does it all. Addresses typed in a document work too.

On a Chromebook

Paste the cells or open the file, then download the PDF and open it. To print it, press Ctrl + P and choose your printer next to Destination (Google's steps).

Print it at its own size, 100%: a sheet shrunk to fit the page drifts off its labels.

Addresses in a Google Doc

Copy the addresses with a blank line between them and paste them in the box above: each block becomes one label, line for line.

These 2 blocks make 2 labels, the first line of each in bold.

Three things that keep 5160 labels straight.

Print at actual size

"Fit to page" can resize the sheet, and then the lower rows drift off their labels. The PDF opens at 100%; keep it there.

Feed the right side up

Printers differ: some print on the side facing up in the tray, others on the side facing down. Mark an X on a plain sheet, print once and look before you load labels.

Test on plain paper

Hold a plain-paper print over a 5160 sheet against a window. If it sits off, calibrate once and save the correction for that printer.

Questions people ask

Can you print labels from Google Sheets?

Yes. Select the list, header row included, copy it and paste it above, or download it as an Excel or CSV file and open that. Choose the number on your label box and download the PDF.

How do I print Avery labels from Google Sheets for free?

Paste the cells above and pick the number on your Avery box, 5160 for most address labels. The PDF is free, with no watermark and no account, and puts each label where Avery's template does: the template for Avery® 5160 labels has every measurement.

Do I need an add-on?

No. There's nothing to install and no access to your Google account to grant: you copy the cells yourself, and the page sees only what you paste.

How do I convert Google Sheets to Avery labels?

Each row becomes one label, its columns matched to the lines by the names in the header row: Name, Street address, City, State, ZIP code. The header names it knows. A column it doesn't know, such as a form's Timestamp, stays off.

Does it work on a Chromebook?

Yes, in Chrome. Download the PDF, open it and press Ctrl + P to print (Google's steps). Print it at 100%, not shrunk to fit the page.

How do I print labels from Google Docs?

Copy the addresses from the document with a blank line between them and paste them above: each block becomes one label, line for line, the first line in bold.

Is my sheet shared with anyone?

No. The page never opens your sheet: it reads only the cells you paste or the file you open, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and who can see your sheet stays as you set it in Google Sheets.

A list that keeps growing?

The editor takes the same cells or file and does more: leave out duplicates and rows with no address, sort by last name or ZIP code, print copies.
